Trump Sees End to Iran War After Midterm Elections, Predicts Lower Oil Prices
US President Donald Trump expressed confidence in ending the war with Iran after the US midterm elections in November, saying it will drive oil prices lower.
Speaking during a visit to Ireland on Sunday, Trump stated that he expected the conflict to conclude before the midterms, but at the latest by then.
'We'll ultimately get out [of Iran], unless we decide to stay and keep the oil like Venezuela,' Trump said, drawing a parallel with the US push to take control of a fifth of Venezuela's vast oil reserves.
He claimed that Iranian officials were 'calling constantly' to secure an agreement, but cautioned that his administration would only accept a favorable settlement.
