US President Donald Trump believes that the war between Iran and the US will end soon after the upcoming US midterm elections in November. He predicted that once the conflict subsides, oil prices will plummet.

In a statement made to reporters in Dublin, Trump said he thinks the war will end 'very soon' and that people are wise to the tactics being employed by Iran to prolong the conflict.

The US-Iran conflict began on February 28 after US-Israeli strikes killed Iran's former supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since then, both sides have been vying for control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key route that carries one-fifth of the world's oil.

Tehran has imposed a blockade on the strait, which has pushed oil prices higher, crossing $100 a barrel this week.
