Trump Strikes Back: US Hits Nine Iranian Oil Tankers Amid Escalating Tensions
US President Donald Trump announced that his administration has struck nine Iranian oil tankers in the region, escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. The action was confirmed by the Rapid Response handle on social media platform X.
In a press conference, Trump stated, 'We've knocked out nine of their ships; I would say that the attacks are caused by us, and you're going to see a lot more.' He also hinted at future actions, saying, 'Many of them are gone-zo.'
Energy Secretary Chris Wright criticized the Biden administration for drawing down refineries in the US, which he believes has contributed to record-high gas prices. Wright pointed out that under Biden's leadership, over a dozen refineries were closed, and two large ones in California were shut down by Governor Gavin Newsom.
