Trump Suggests US Control Over Iranian Oil in Exchange for Military Presence
President Donald Trump recently suggested that the United States could control Iranian oil reserves in exchange for military presence, drawing parallels to a controversial deal with Venezuela. According to Trump, the US has majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves and claims this revenue has 'paid for the war many times.'
Secretary of State Marco Rubio supported this notion, indicating that the deal could stimulate close to $100 billion in private investment to revitalize Venezuela's struggling economy.
The statement follows a significant agreement reached in August, where Venezuela granted the US majority control over its oil reserves in exchange for a substantial influx of cash. Trump forecasted an end to the seven-month conflict in Iran, potentially aligning with the November midterm elections, and predicted a significant drop in gasoline prices once hostilities cease.
