Trump Suggests US Could Stay in Iran, Take Control of Oil Resources
US President Donald Trump has suggested that the United States could remain in Iran after the ongoing conflict, potentially taking control of the country's oil resources. Speaking during a visit to Ireland, Trump compared this possibility with Washington's post-war involvement in Venezuela.
'We have to make the right deal,' Trump said, stressing that he would reject any agreement he regarded as inadequate. He also claimed that Iran had been repeatedly seeking a deal with Washington but added that Tehran must accept terms favorable to the US.
The president indicated that the conflict could conclude around the time of the US midterm elections in November, although an earlier end is possible. Trump argued that energy prices would fall sharply once the fighting ends, with US gasoline prices 'dropping like a rock' after the conflict is brought to a close.
