Trump Threatens to Bomb Oman Over Strait of Hormuz Deal
US President Donald Trump has threatened to bomb Oman over its deal with Iran to manage ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, according to regional officials.
The officials said that the Trump administration opposes parts of the yet-to-be-announced deal, including joint Iranian and Omani management of the exit route out of the passage, which is critical for global supplies of oil and natural gas.
A projectile hit a ship as it sailed out of the strait, according to the British military's maritime monitoring agency. The ship suffered damage to its engine room, and a crew member was reportedly injured or killed.
The Iranian official stated that the waterway would not reopen until the United States meets Iran's conditions, which include lifting the blockade, releasing frozen assets, and ending threats and military operations.
