Trump Threatens to Stay in Iran, Seize Oil as US Tensions Escalate
US President Donald Trump has stepped up his rhetoric against Iran's regime, suggesting that his administration could remain in the country and seize its oil. The president made this comment during a speech at the Irish Open golf tournament on Sunday, drawing parallels between Iran and Venezuela.
Trump stated that Tehran is eager to reach an agreement with Washington and has repeatedly tried to make contact. He emphasized that his administration will only accept a 'right deal' and won't settle for one that 'isn't good.'
In August, Trump announced that the United States had gained majority control of over 65 billion barrels of Venezuela's proven oil reserves through a partnership with private companies.
Trump also predicted that once the war with Iran ends, the price of gasoline will drop significantly. He mentioned that instability in the Middle East has shaken the oil markets and prices may rise again on Monday following an attack on a Saudi oil pipeline.
