Trump Vows Punishment for Iran and Houthi Allies After Red Sea Attacks
US President Donald Trump has threatened to inflict 'major military punishment' on Iran and its Houthi allies in response to attacks on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea.
The Houthis, who control northern and western Yemen, claimed responsibility for striking two Saudi vessels, Encelia and Layla, causing a fire at the bow of one ship. The US military had launched air strikes on Iran the night before, prompting Iran to retaliate by firing missiles at neighboring countries hosting US bases.
Trump vowed that 'any and all damages done' to cargo ships would be paid for with 'Iranian Money', referring to frozen Iranian assets held by the US. The president also hinted at reviving major combat operations in Iran, saying that Iran had not 'received enough pain yet.'
