US President Donald Trump's claim that Iran's key energy hub Kharg Island was attacked has been dismissed by Iranian officials as 'laughable'. The incident occurred just hours after hostilities resumed between the two nations for the first time since July.

The White House and US Defence Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment. However, Hamid Bovard, CEO of National Iranian Oil Co., stated that conditions on Kharg Island are calm and that oil operations continue uninterrupted.

Bovard attributed the 'conditions' to ongoing repair work and modernization efforts at the facility. Kharg Island is responsible for 90% of Iran's oil exports, making an attack on it a significant threat to global energy trade.
