Trump's Claims of Iran Talks Rejected by Tehran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has rejected US President Donald Trump's claims that Iran requested talks to halt attacks. According to Baghaei, the country is only discussing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz with Oman to determine a temporary route that ensures safety.

The agreement with Oman has no connection to whether the Strait of Hormuz is open or closed, and the route being discussed would be a single corridor rather than two. Baghaei noted that despite this development, up to five million barrels of crude are flowing through the lane closer to Oman, which is about 25% of the pre-war flow.

Baghaei also criticized the Trump administration for violating its commitments, reinstating an illegal maritime blockade, and revoking authorization for the sale of Iranian oil. He claimed that until these actions change, 'naturally no significant change will occur in the situation of the Strait of Hormuz.'

Trump had previously stated that he halted attacks as talks would resume to end the war, citing a request from Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to hold off any attack.
