Crude oil prices plummeted early Monday after US President Donald Trump announced fresh peace talks with Iran.

The decision to skip a planned military strike on Iran was influenced by Middle Eastern allies, particularly Saudi Arabia, who pushed for diplomacy instead.

This led to a sharp decline in Brent crude, which dropped 7.3% below $85 a barrel, while WTI crude slipped under $81 a barrel.
