TSX Futures Rise as Gold Climbs Amid Middle East Peace Deal Hopes
Futures linked to Canada's commodity-heavy main stock index rose on Tuesday as gold prices increased and oil slipped amid fresh hopes for diplomatic efforts to secure a Middle East peace deal.
The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract had risen by 19 points, or 0.9%, by 07:33 ET (11:33 GMT).
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index was closed on Monday for a holiday, but its average finished lower by 0.8% at 35,226.14 in the prior session on Friday.
U.S. stock index futures also rose, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures contract gaining 458 points, or 0.9%, and S&P 500 futures climbing 18 points, or 0.2%, by 07:42 ET.
