TSX Futures Slip on Oil Price Surge and Escalating Trade Tensions
Futures linked to Canada's main stock exchange fell on Wednesday due to rising oil prices and escalating tensions between the US and Canada.
The S&P/TSX 60 index standard futures contract dropped by 8 points, or 0.4%, while US stock futures were also lower, with the S&P 500 futures down 19 points, or 0.3%.
The surge in oil prices above $100 a barrel has exacerbated inflation concerns, which are further complicated by an intensifying trade war between the US and Canada.
The two countries have exchanged tariffs, with Ottawa imposing retaliatory measures on American goods after Washington rolled out a ban on some Canadian imports.
