TSX30 Mining Firms Dominate List with Record-Breaking Gains
The TSX30 list has been dominated by mining firms for several years now, and this year was no exception. Out of the top 30 companies on the list, a staggering 18 were from the mining sector, representing a majority share.
This trend continued a clear pattern that started building over recent years, with mining companies making up an increasingly large portion of the TSX30 list. Among these, Montage Gold Corp took second place with a significant gain of 2,502%, followed closely by Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd at 958%.
The top spot on the list was secured by Celestica Inc for the second consecutive year, thanks to its impressive 2,590% dividend-adjusted three-year share price rise. The company's market capitalization expanded from C$1.9 billion to a staggering C$59.5 billion.
The strong performance of mining companies on the TSX30 list can be attributed in part to record precious metal prices and robust demand for gold, driven by geopolitical risks and central bank purchases. Additionally, copper has reached all-time highs due to tight mine supply and rising demand from AI and clean tech industries.
