Tunisia's Olive Oil Output Slated for 40% Decline Amid Biennial Cycle

Tunisia's olive oil production is facing a significant decline in the upcoming season. According to the country's National Chamber of Olive Producers, output could drop by around 40% compared to last season, falling to 300 thousand tons from 500 thousand tons.

The main reason behind this expected decrease is the natural biennial bearing cycle of olive trees. A high-yielding season typically follows a year of lower production, which will significantly reduce olive oil output in the current season.

However, despite lower production volumes, industry experts expect olive oil revenues to remain relatively stable due to higher prices on international markets. This could partly offset the impact of reduced output.
