Turkey Pursues New Plan for Safe Grain Exports Through Black Sea

Turkey has been working on a plan to ensure safe passage for grain vessels through the Black Sea, with discussions underway with Ukraine and Russia.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Ankara is maintaining contact with both sides and exploring the possibility of a new agreement similar to the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

The initiative allowed for nearly 33 million tons of grain and agricultural products to be safely exported from Ukrainian ports during the war, but Russia withdrew in July 2023, ending the deal.
