Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan Ink Historic Defense Pact
Turkey has signed a defense pact with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, aimed at deepening military ties and cooperation between the three regional powers.
The 'Mecca Joint Defense Agreement' was signed on August 7, 2026, in response to regional tensions and Iranian missile fire targeting Gulf oil exporters.
Under the agreement, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan will establish strategic political and military mechanisms involving defense ministers, foreign ministers, and chiefs of general staff. Joint military exercises are also planned, including land, naval, and air forces, as well as coordination on unmanned systems, electronic warfare, and artificial intelligence capabilities.
The agreement aims to provide not only product and system supply but also joint development and production, technology cooperation, and sustainable maintenance and logistics support.
