Turkey Sees Decline in Natural Gas Imports Amid Summer Demand

Turkey's natural gas imports declined significantly in July, according to data from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK). The country imported around 3.06 billion cubic meters of natural gas in July, a 21.7% decrease from the same period last year.

Pipeline gas accounted for 2.87 billion cubic meters of total imports, while liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports totaled 194.05 million cubic meters. Azerbaijan was Turkey's largest pipeline gas supplier in July, followed by Russia and Iran.

Natural gas consumption also decreased in July, dropping 25.2% year-over-year to around 2.65 billion cubic meters. The country's natural gas stocks stood at 5.64 billion cubic meters at the end of July, up 30.54% from the same month last year.

Turkey's oil imports also declined in July, down 6.9% from a year earlier to around 4.52 million tons. Russia was Turkey's largest supplier of crude oil and petroleum products during the month.
