Türkiye and Saudi Arabia Boost Renewable Energy Partnership to 5,000 MW
Türkiye and Saudi Arabia are set to deepen their energy cooperation through a new 3,000-megawatt renewable energy agreement. This deal will take the total planned green energy capacity under their partnership to 5,000 MW.
According to Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, the new agreement will build on an earlier 2,000-MW deal between the two countries.
Bayraktar highlighted Türkiye's transformation over the past 24 years, noting that its installed electricity capacity has increased nearly fourfold, from around 32,000 MW to 126,000 MW. This has made it ranked third in Europe in terms of installed electricity capacity, power generation and electricity consumption.
Türkiye is now focusing on strengthening its position as a regional energy hub, with plans to transport Iraqi oil through the Ceyhan terminal and explore joint onshore and offshore oil and gas opportunities in Pakistan. The country is also pursuing potential routes for Qatari gas and Kuwaiti oil.
