Türkiye Boosts Domestic Oil and Gas Production Amid Overseas Expansion

Türkiye's efforts to boost domestic oil and gas production show no signs of slowing down, according to Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.

In the first six months of this year, Türkiye produced 23.1 million barrels of oil, with 21.8 million coming from the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). The Gabar field accounted for a significant share of production, at 60% of total output.

Natural gas production also saw a substantial increase, reaching 1.641 billion cubic meters in the January-June period. TPAO was responsible for 1.608 billion cubic meters, while private-sector companies produced the remaining 33 million cubic meters. The Sakarya Gas Field had a share of 92% of total production.

Minister Bayraktar expressed confidence that domestic oil and gas production will continue to rise, with plans to double natural gas production in the Black Sea this year. He also highlighted Türkiye's initiatives overseas, including partnerships in countries such as Somalia, Libya, and Iraq, where the country has become a partner in five fields containing an estimated 3 billion barrels of oil reserves.
