Turkmenistan Targets Oil and Gas Production Growth with New Development Plans
Turkmenistan has set ambitious targets to increase production of oil, gas condensate, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). A meeting at the central building of the country's oil and gas complex reviewed the first two months of 2026 and upcoming tasks. The objectives discussed included strengthening measures to boost hydrocarbon resource production and efficient use of existing capacities in the sector.
The meeting highlighted the need for further development of new deposits, with a focus on increasing production at the 'Galkynysh' gas field. Attention was also paid to the construction of the Serhetabad-Herat gas pipeline, a key component of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.
The presentations emphasized the importance of digital technologies in geological exploration and diversifying the industry. Deputy Prime Minister Guvanch Agajanov, Chairman of 'Turkmennebit' State Concern, noted the need for comprehensive measures to increase hydrocarbon resource production.
