U.S. Energy Investment Yields Global Stabilizing Role
The American Petroleum Institute (API) has released an analysis highlighting the United States' role as a global energy stabilizer due to decades of investment in oil and natural gas production, refining, and infrastructure.
According to API, sustained domestic energy development has cushioned global supply disruptions despite current geopolitical uncertainty, tight inventories, and risks to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
The report notes that record U.S. crude production and refining capacity have contributed to this stabilizing role. The country now produces nearly 14 MMbpd of crude oil, making it the world's largest oil producer and the largest source of new global oil supply.
API emphasizes that long-term investments in the upstream industry amount to approximately $150 billion annually, with additional investment directed toward pipelines, refineries, export terminals, and other energy infrastructure.
