U.S.-Iran Tensions Push Oil Prices Higher, Weigh on Stocks
U.S. stock futures were steady on Monday evening after Wall Street ended lower due to renewed tensions between the United States and Iran.
The S&P 500 Futures traded flat at 7,768.0 points, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were muted at 30,107.75 points.
Wall Street's weak session on Monday saw the S&P 500 fall 0.5%, the Dow Jones lose 0.5%, and the Nasdaq Composite decline 0.3%.
The energy sector was the only gainer, rising 0.9%, as crude prices climbed more than $2 a barrel to around $90.87 on Monday.
President Donald Trump's threat of military action against Oman if it interfered with U.S. efforts to reach a deal with Iran added to uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil shipments.
