U.S. LNG Exports Surge 23% as New Terminals Come Online

The United States has seen a significant increase in liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, rising by 23% to an average of 17.4 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in the first six months of 2026 compared to the same period last year.

This growth is attributed to higher capacity due to new terminal startups and expansions at existing terminals.

Plaquemines LNG has reached full capacity, while Corpus Christi Stage 3 is currently exporting from six out of seven liquefaction trains, increasing nominal U.S. export capacity by a combined 4.0 Bcf/d.

The average global LNG price remained high throughout the first half of 2026, incentivizing U.S. exports to reach maximum output levels.
