U.S. LNG Exports Surge 23% in First Half of 2026

U.S. liquefied natural gas exports increased significantly in the first half of 2026, growing by 23% compared to the same period last year.

The growth is largely attributed to new liquefaction capacity coming online along the U.S. Gulf Coast, particularly at Plaquemines LNG, Corpus Christi Stage 3, and Golden Pass LNG facilities.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), exports averaged 17.4 Bcf/d during the first six months of the year, up from 14.2 Bcf/d in 2025.

The agency expects exports to remain near that level for the remainder of the year, averaging 17.3 Bcf/d in the second half of 2026, before climbing to 18.7 Bcf/d during the first half of 2027.
