U.S. LNG Exports Surge by 23% Amid Global Supply Crunch
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in the U.S. is rapidly expanding, with exports averaging 17.4 billion cubic feet per day in the first six months of 2026, a 23% increase from the same period in 2025.
This growth can be attributed to new facilities coming online and expansions of existing ones, particularly along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana.
The majority of U.S. LNG exports go to Europe, with countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, France, the UK, Germany, and Spain being major recipients.
With Russian natural gas imports off the table indefinitely due to ongoing conflicts, European countries will continue to rely on reliable supplies that are largely free from geopolitical risk.
