U.S. LNG Sector Faces Feedstock Shortage as Expansion Plans Take Shape
The U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector is experiencing growth, but it needs more feedstock to support planned expansions.
According to a report by Industrial Info Resources, domestic LNG producers require an additional 5.27 billion cubic feet per day in feedstock to meet the demand of expanding terminals and new additions.
The largest demand sink for feedstock would be from the Port Arthur LNG facility, which is expected to come online as early as next year.
Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, will soon begin constructing a 26.9-mile segment of the Texas Connector Pipeline, providing up to 2.5 Bcf/d of natural gas to Port Arthur LNG.
