U.S. Rig Counts Show Mixed Results Amid Record Oil Production
The latest U.S. rig report from WellDatabase shows 598 active rigs as of September 11, down 32 week-over-week but up 22 year-over-year.
This data is in contrast to Baker Hughes' report on the same day, which showed 591 rigs, up 3 from 588 the prior week and about 52-54 from 537 a year earlier.
Enverus' daily GPS-tracked count stood near 661 as of September 6, but different methodologies explain the spread between these numbers.
The Permian basin still dominates U.S. oil production, with 268 rigs in operation, up 1 week-over-week and 14 year-over-year.
