U.S. Seeks Oil Deal Bonanza in Venezuela Amid Global Price Surge
The U.S. government has signed historic oil deals with Venezuela, aiming to boost production and create a framework for revenue to flow back to the Venezuelan people.
These agreements involve private operators, including North American Blue Energy Partners (NABEP), led by mysterious investor Alejandro Betancourt, who has faced investigations in Switzerland but no charges were brought.
The U.S. is taking a stake in NABEP and trading it for future oil production, with the goal of scaling up production to 2 million barrels per day.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright expressed confidence that production could quickly increase by a couple hundred thousand barrels per day, citing investments from Chevron and other companies.
