U.S. Stocks Decline as Oil Prices Surge Amid Middle East Tensions
U.S. stocks declined on Tuesday as rising oil prices and tech-sector weakness weighed on investor sentiment following the Labor Day holiday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 628.18 points (1.2%) to 52,786.07, while the S&P 500 Index lost 45.08 points (0.6%) to 7,673.52 and the Nasdaq Composite Index gave up 85.58 points (0.3%) to 26,421.41.
Crude Oil Futures rose 2.5% to $93.72 a barrel after Yemen's Houthi rebels attacked Saudi Arabian oil facilities over the weekend in connection with the U.S.-Iran War.
