UAE Blames Iran for Drone Attacks on Tankers in Strait of Hormuz
The United Arab Emirates accused Iran of firing drones at two tankers operated by ADNOC, the state-owned oil and gas company. The attacks occurred while the vessels were transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday evening.
No casualties were reported, but the incident highlights the risks faced by ships passing through this critical waterway. The UAE's Foreign Ministry called the attack a 'flagrant violation' of the United Nations' principles of freedom of navigation.
The ministry also accused Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps of using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic coercion or blackmail, describing it as an act of piracy. There was no immediate response from Iran.
