UAE Condemns Alleged Iranian Attack on ADNOC Vessel
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has condemned an alleged Iranian attack on an ADNOC vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Tehran of 'acts of piracy'.
According to the UAE Foreign Ministry, the attack occurred early on Saturday and was carried out using a missile. The ministry stated that the situation is under control, but did not provide further details on the tanker's cargo or possible damage.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which has raised concerns about security in the region. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, with around one-fifth of the world's supply passing through it prior to the conflict.
The UAE Foreign Ministry accused Iran's Revolutionary Guards of violating a U.N. Security Council resolution on freedom of navigation by targeting commercial shipping in the strait. The ministry called on Iran to halt the attacks and reopen the strait fully and unconditionally.
