UAE Condemns Iran for Attacking Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has condemned an Iranian attack on one of its oil tankers, ADNOC, in the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE described the attack as a 'flagrant violation' of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes freedom of navigation and rejects targeting commercial vessels.
The UAE stressed that targeting commercial shipping in the region constitutes an 'act of piracy' by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and poses a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed his country's commitment to pursuing dialogue, but emphasized that Tehran will not be forced to surrender. He defended Iran's decision to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States, stating that Iran remains committed as long as the US fulfills its commitments under the agreement.
