UAE Condemns Iranian Missile Attack on Oil Tanker in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates has condemned an Iranian missile attack on one of its oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a clear violation of international law. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the attack was carried out by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is accused of using the strait as an instrument of political and economic coercion.

The ADNOC oil tanker was hit by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of August 8th, but fortunately, no crew members were injured. The UAE has called on Iran to immediately cease such attacks and reopen the strait without preconditions, warning that continuing interruptions would jeopardize international trade and the world economy.

Qatar has also condemned the attack, terming it a major violation of international law, freedom of navigation, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. The Qatari foreign ministry reiterated its solidarity with the UAE and expressed support for any steps taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its assets.
