UAE, Germany Seal Energy Deals Worth $46.4 Billion Amid Growing Uncertainty
The UAE and Germany have strengthened their energy ties with several agreements covering renewables and natural gas. These deals are part of a broader €40 billion investment push to support industry in Europe's top economy.
The trade relationship between the two countries is worth around $15.5 billion annually, making them significant partners amid growing political uncertainty, including the war in Iran, with energy playing a major role.
RWE, Germany's largest power producer, signed a memorandum of understanding with UAE state-backed renewable energy firm Masdar to explore joint participation in German offshore wind auctions in 2027. This potential investment could exceed €3 billion.
The parties also agreed on future supplies of liquefied natural gas between RWE and ADNOC. They aim to finalize terms for up to two LNG offtake agreements to supply markets from the early 2030s, with volumes coming from ADNOC Gas and its international arm XRG.
