UAE's ADNOC Continues Loading LNG Despite Strait of Hormuz Tensions

ADNOC, the Emirati energy company, has continued loading liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the Persian Gulf despite ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. According to Bloomberg, one tanker was stationed near ADNOC's export terminal on Das Island on September 2, while another vessel was nearby.

Both LNG carriers were operating in 'dark mode', with their transponders switched off, a practice also used by oil tankers. ADNOC has successfully moved some liquefied gas out of the Persian Gulf using vessels with their transponders switched off.

To ensure LNG exports, the UAE is utilizing ship-to-ship cargo transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz. Over the past month, three LNG carriers loaded in Qatar and the UAE in the Persian Gulf transferred their cargo to other vessels outside the strait.

This arrangement could help increase supplies of liquefied gas from the region. However, LNG flows from the Persian Gulf have effectively almost come to a halt, despite individual attempts to organize exports, Bloomberg and other media reported.
