UBS Forecasts Gold Prices to Reach 5,000 USD/Ounce in 2027
The gold price has been fluctuating in Vietnam, with various market players listing different prices for gold rings and bars. As of September 10th, Phu Quy Gold and Gems Group listed the price of gold rings at 142.4-145.8 million VND/tael (buying - selling), while DOJI Group listed them at 143.7-147.7 million VND/tael. The price of SJC gold bars was also listed by various market players, ranging from 143.6-146.6 million VND/tael.
According to analysts from UBS, the world's leading financial and banking group, the gold price is expected to increase in the medium term due to several factors. These include strong demand for gold from central banks, concerns about fiscal policy, high inflation, and geopolitical instability. Central banks such as the People's Bank of China have been increasing their gold reserves, with the PBoC buying 650,000 ounces of gold in August.
UBS analysts believe that gold is a valuable portfolio diversification tool, especially for investors who prefer real assets. They forecast that central banks will buy 750-1,000 tons of gold per year, which will provide structural support for gold prices. The Swiss bank also expects the weakening US dollar to boost demand for precious metals and support gold prices.
Despite short-term risks, UBS analysts are optimistic about the long-term investment prospects for gold. They forecast that gold prices will increase to around 5,000 USD/ounce in the first half of 2027.
