The official crude oil naming ceremony took place in Uganda, where President Yoweri Museveni and other dignitaries were present. The new name 'Pearl Sweet' has been given to the crude oil from two oilfields: CNOOC International's Kingfisher and TotalEnergies' Tilenga. According to Irene Batebe, Permanent Secretary at Uganda's Ministry of Energy, the oil is expected to start flowing this year.

The naming ceremony was attended by China's Ambassador to Uganda, Wu Guangrong, among other officials. President Museveni mentioned that the country has been working on developing its energy sector and that this milestone marks a significant step forward. The Ugandan government plans to use the revenue from oil production for development projects.
