UK Adults Mourn Missed Opportunities as Gold, Silver Prices Soar
UK adults are reflecting on their missed opportunities to invest in gold and silver amid widespread financial uncertainty, according to new research from The Royal Mint. Over the past five years, gold prices have risen by approximately 128%, while silver has increased by around 126%. These significant gains have left many feeling regretful about not investing in precious metals.
The Royal Mint found that one-third of UK adults (33%) regret missing out on gold's price rally, while nearly a third (30%) feel the same way about silver. In contrast, only 20% of respondents said they regret not investing in Bitcoin over the same period.
Despite this sense of regret, The Royal Mint notes that many UK adults are still uncertain about their financial future. Nearly three-quarters (73%) of adults expressed concern about how global conflicts and economic instability could affect the value of their money. Over half (53%) said they were unsure of the best place to put their savings to stay financially secure.
The research highlights a significant gap in financial confidence and knowledge across the UK. More than one-fifth (41%) of adults say they do not have enough financial knowledge to make a positive impact on their finances. Stuart O'Reilly, Private Wealth Consultant at The Royal Mint, emphasized that investing is about understanding the role different assets can play within a long-term strategy.
