UK petrol prices have reached their highest level since mid-June due to rising oil costs. The wholesale price of Brent crude has climbed back above $100 a barrel, up from around $70 before the US-Israel conflict with Iran escalated.

The RAC says that unless hostilities end soon, it's hard not to see petrol prices reaching new highs. Wholesale oil prices have been volatile since the conflict began, pushing pump prices up by roughly 7p a litre for every $10 increase in the oil price.

The average price of petrol reached an Iran war peak of 159.53p a litre on 28 May, while diesel's highest average price during the conflict was 191.54p a litre on 15 April.
