UK Slams Brakes on Russian Finance with New Sanctions
The UK has imposed new sanctions on Russia in an effort to limit its ability to finance its war against Ukraine. The latest package includes sanctions against 19 individuals and entities that support Moscow's military efforts.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office announced the new measures on August 6, targeting companies, financial institutions, and vessels linked to Russia's energy exports.
Six Russian financial institutions have been added to the sanctions list: Ozon Bank, Roseximbank, Bank Center-Invest, Realist Bank, Bank Stavr, and TelePort Bank. Additionally, several vessels associated with Russia's shadow fleet used for transporting liquefied natural gas have been targeted.
The UK is continuing its efforts to restrict Russia's ability to finance its war against Ukraine by targeting the country's banking sector, strategic industries, and maritime network used to circumvent international sanctions.
