UK Targets Arctic LNG Carrier and Five Oil Tankers in Russia Sanctions Package
The UK has expanded its sanctions against Russia with a new package targeting shipping, banking, and industrial entities. The package includes six vessels accused of transporting Russian energy exports, an India-based ship management company, and five oil tankers.
The maritime measures are led by the designation of the LNG carrier Arctic Express (IMO 9333591), which is believed to be sailing under the Russian flag. The UK alleges that the vessel has transported liquefied natural gas originating in Russia to third countries.
The UK also imposed shipping sanctions on five oil tankers: Perseas, Torvian, Asteras, Visund, and Zenturo. These vessels are prohibited from entering UK ports and may be detained under the UK's specified ship sanctions.
