Ukraine Drone Strike Ignites Fire at Rosneft-Owned Refinery in Russia
A drone attack by Ukraine has sparked a fire at a refinery in Russia's Bashkortostan region, according to regional governor Radiy Khabirov.
The Ufa refinery, owned and operated by Rosneft subsidiary Bashneft, caught fire after the overnight strike, with repairs expected within a few days.
This is not the first time Ukraine has targeted Russian oil refineries, with nearly-daily drone attacks aimed at crippling Russia's fuel supply to the frontline and domestic gas stations.
Ukraine has intensified its campaign against Russian energy infrastructure this year, targeting refineries, tankers in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, and supply routes, in an effort to cut Russia's energy export revenues.
