Ukraine Faces Grain Storage Shortfall Amid Export Delays
Ukraine's grain storage situation is becoming increasingly dire due to blocked port operations and limited export volumes. According to Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Taras Vysotsky, the country could face a domestic grain storage shortfall of 8-11 million tonnes in November.
Vysotsky warned that at the current pace of exports, Ukraine's storage capacity would be overwhelmed, leading to a shortage of up to 11 million tonnes. He attributed this difficulty to forecasting the corn harvest, despite planning for a maximum yield.
The ministry is seeking assistance from international partners to address the issue. Vysotsky confirmed that Ukraine has received $10 million in aid and is finalizing an additional $25 million with the World Bank. This funding will cover temporary storage equipment, including grain storage bags that can hold up to 250 tonnes of grain.
Vysotsky expressed confidence that this assistance would be sufficient to cover the critical situation and secure adequate grain storage capacity.
