Ukraine Grappling with Grain Storage Shortfall Amid Export Bottlenecks
Ukraine's grain storage situation is critical due to blocked port operations and limited export volumes. According to Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Taras Vysotsky, the country may face a domestic grain storage shortfall of 8-11 million tonnes in November.
This shortfall could be avoided with sufficient temporary storage equipment, such as grain storage bags that can hold up to 250 tonnes of grain each. Ukraine has received some funding for this purpose: $10 million from international partners and $25 million from the World Bank, which will cover about 6 million tonnes or more.
Vysotsky said that taking these funds into account, Ukraine expects to secure sufficient grain storage capacity by November. The ministry is planning for a maximum yield despite the difficulty of forecasting the corn harvest.
