Ukraine Overhauls Payment Terms Amid Russian Strikes on Black Sea Ports
The Ukrainian government has revised payment terms for agricultural exports following Russian strikes on Black Sea ports. The changes aim to give farmers more flexibility in navigating wartime disruptions and staying competitive in overseas markets.
Under the updated procedure, the Economy Ministry can extend foreign-currency settlement deadlines by up to 180 days when exporters submit an application. This new framework applies to certain farm goods, including wheat, corn, soybeans, sunflower seed, sunflower oil, and oilcake.
The decision comes after Russian military operations in the Black Sea region caused serious logistics bottlenecks, forcing Ukrainian exporters to reroute deliveries and significantly lengthening transport times. The revised maximum settlement periods aim to mitigate these challenges and maintain the country's agricultural export performance.
