Ukraine Ports Plan Uncertainty Weighs on Wheat Futures
Wheat futures continued to slide on Friday as traders closed out positions ahead of the weekend. Reports emerged that Ukraine was exploring alternative methods to keep vessels moving through its Odesa ports, weighing on wheat markets.
However, Ukraine's agriculture minister later denied any plans to implement such measures, citing ongoing efforts to ensure Black Sea grain exports. This conflicting information may have contributed to the market uncertainty.
The results of a North Dakota crop tour also came out, revealing average hard red spring wheat yields at 48.0 bushels per acre, down one bushel from last year but above the five-year average of 45.8 bu./ac.
