Ukraine Secures 30-Year LNG Deal with Canada

Ukraine is aiming to secure long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from Canada, with plans to establish a strategic energy security bridge. The country's Energy Minister, Denys Shmyhal, stated that Ukraine proposes concluding a 30-year agreement with Canada.

The agreement would see Canada supply LNG to Ukraine, and Shmyhal noted that the two countries have already reached agreements on this matter. He added that Ukraine has offered its gas storage facilities to Canadian suppliers.

In addition to the potential LNG supplies, Canada has also pledged a direct grant of 650 million Canadian dollars to purchase natural gas as part of the country's overall assistance package for Ukraine. This contribution is already at 90 million Canadian dollars through the Energy Support Fund.
