Ukraine Seeks Black Sea Ceasefire, But Russia Remains Silent
Ukraine has proposed a ceasefire to Russia in the Black Sea, but so far, there has been no response from Moscow. September wheat futures on Euronext BL2U6 fell after Reuters reported on Ukraine's proposal, giving up a significant earlier gain.
The conflict has led to a decline in grain exports from Ukraine, with the country forced to turn to alternative shipping routes due to fears of Russian strikes on foreign-flagged vessels and port infrastructure. The agricultural sector is warning of large-scale consequences for the economy if the situation continues.
