Ukraine Soybean Prices Soar on High Demand, Military Risks Loom

Ukraine's soybean market is experiencing high demand from buyers, driving up prices at the western border. Soybean producers in central and western regions may find exporting to be more attractive than selling to domestic processors, according to analysts from PUSK, an agricultural cooperative established under the Ukrainian Agrarian Council. The initial buying price offered by Ukrainian soybean processors ranges between UAH 16,000-16,500 per ton, with some companies already offering around UAH 17,000 per ton.

The situation is in stark contrast to other crops like corn and sunflower seeds, which are facing lower prices due to excess supply. Analysts predict that soybean prices offered by processors could reach UAH 19,000-20,000 per ton by December-January. However, military risks remain a key factor for the market, and attacks on processing facilities could quickly change the picture.

Export opportunities via sea and Danube routes are also affecting prices in the soybean market. Despite this uncertainty, seasonality, demand, supply, balances, and export opportunities currently point to further growth in soybean prices.
